How to get to Community Village Tewantin
Community Village is on 27 acres of Kabi Kabi people’s land, and as the “traditional owners”, they have issued Qld Government notice of their appointment as Caretakers. The Government has abandoned the land and cancelled its operation as a TAFE learning center for the Noosa community. The Government and local Council have failed to care for the land and the community interests, and so the Appointed Caretakers now offer use of the land by providing people in need with a safe place to stay. Community Village is managed by volunteers from the Qld Homelessness Working Group.
Getting There:
Head out of Tewantin on the Cooroy Noosa Road, then 4kms down the road heading West, next door to the Golf Club is a set of boom gates. This is the entry to Community Village. The frontage is opposite St Andrews Drive roundabout and the entry has natural bushland either side with a sealed road leading into the site manager’s office.
